Recommended piping for Hot/Cold water systems.
July 23, 2024Attached are some pictures of a new Pearson Tank configured for a Chiller and Heater. In this configuration the customer elected to have the chiller located opposite of the hot water burner.
For the Chiller Inlet and Outlet, internal piping (pictures attached) show a 90 degree fitting approximately 12” inside of the tank. The “Chiller Return” inlet 90 degree fitting is pointed up, while the “Chiller Suction” outlet 90 degree fitting is pointed down at 45 degrees. The “Spray Bar Inlet” or recovery water from a Water Source, is located on the opposite side of the tank and water is introduced into the tank through a horizontal pipe almost the length of the tank with multiple pin holes throughout. This helps disperse recovery water throughout the length of the tank. Unfortunately horizontal tanks are not able to incorporate a long dispersion pipe and thus are not recommended for hot and cold water storage.
